Defender moves on in search of first-team football

Port Vale have released defender Justin Miller after paying up the remainder of the South African's contract. Miller joined the club on a free transfer from Leyton Orient last summer, but the right-back has struggled to make an impact under Lee Sinnott. He had a further year left on his deal at Vale Park, but has come to an agreement with the League One strugglers to leave immediately. The 27-year-old, who made 16 appearances for Vale, is confident he is making the right decision for his career by moving on.

Good bunch

"I want to play football. I'm not playing football here, that's what made my mind up," Miller told the club's official website. "There's no point in staying really, I'm not getting a look in, so it's time to move on. "Football is good when you are playing week in, week out. I haven't disliked my time here. They are a good bunch of lads, but on the football side it hasn't been good. "I just have to make sure I get my head down, find myself a new club and make next season a better one to make up for this one."
