Antony Sweeney has ended the speculation surrounding his future by agreeing a new contract at Hartlepool.
The midfielder had been placed on the transfer list back in January after turning down the club's offer of a new deal, but has now decided to remain in the North East.
The 24-year-old came through the youth ranks at Victoria Park and has been a regular member of the first-team squad since making his debut back in 2002.
His versatility has been used to full effect in the recent weeks, switching seamlessly between roles at right-back and on the right wing.
Pools boss Danny Wilson has always insisted that he wanted the player to remain at the club and will be delighted to bring the situation to a close.
Sweeney has made 31 appearances for Hartlepool in League One this season, scoring four goals to help the club into the safety of mid-table.
