Four players try their luck
Port Vale have taken four players on trial as they look ahead to next season.
The Valiants are some 12 point adrift of safety and have all but accepted that they will be in League Two next term.
Manager Lee Sinnott is looking at his options and he has taken Aberdeen left-back Dan Smith, Nuneaton midfielder Robert Taylor, Middlesbrough's 18-year-old striker Steve Thompson and Hucknall defender Bobby Wilson on trial.
Looking
"We will look at people and maybe do that more between now and the end of the season," said Sinnott.
"There are no guarantees, but it is having one eye on what is going to happen next season.
"I thought the better reserve game was Wednesday's because they will have been in the building for a couple of days and got a bit more settled.
"We want to compare and see them up close. We will then evaluate at the end of the week."
