Danny Schofield has asked to leave Huddersfield Town in search of a new challenge.

Danny Schofield has asked to leave Huddersfield Town in search of a new challenge.

The midfielder has spent almost a decade with the League One club, but wants to move on at the end of the season.

Terriers boss Andy Ritchie confirmed he will help the 27-year-old in his attempts to secure a new club.

Ritchie said: "Danny has asked to leave the club for personal reasons and because he wants a clean slate.

Fantastic servant

"He has spoken with his family and has come to the conclusion that this is the best move for him and we will do all we can to help him.

"It's not a transfer request - he just feels he needs a new challenge. We have circulated his name and he may go out on loan somewhere, or get a permanent move at the end of the season.

"He's been a fantastic servant and ambassador for the club. He's a great lad and a great character and we're happy to support him in any way we can."

Schofield had been wanted by League One rivals Yeovil Town last summer, only for Ritchie to reject the interest.
