Pogliacomi agrees to cancel contract by mutual consent

Les Pogliacomi has ended his career in England after deciding to quit Oldham and return to his native Australia, upon learning his knee injury requires major surgery. The 31-year-old has concurred on a deal with the League One club to terminate his contract by mutual consent. Pogliacomi's right knee has degenerated and requires major open surgery that will likely see him sidelined for up to a year. During two spells with the club, Pogliacomi has proved to be a popular figure at Boundary Park, making 187 appearances in the process. Pogliacomi helped Oldham to the play-offs in the 2002/03 campaign and again last term, before injuries curtailed his involvement this season. Having battled knee injuries in the past 12 months, Pogliacomi has arrived at the conclusion that his recuperation would be best served back in Australia.
