Ryan Gilligan is hoping to secure a new contract at Northampton and help the club into the play-offs.

Ryan Gilligan is hoping to secure a new contract at Northampton Town and help the club into the play-offs.

The young midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the season and he is keen to stay at the League One club.

But he admits he is happy to put talks over an extension on hold as Northampton chase a play-off place, with the team currently six points adrift.

"It was a vital win for us up at Hartlepool and that could prove to be the three points which really kicks our season on," said Gilligan.

Fully focused

"We are on a good run of form at the moment and if we can keep winning games we can really make a challenge for the play-offs.

"My contract is up here in the summer, but I think this club is going places and I really want to be a part of that.

"Contracts haven't really been mentioned yet, but I think that just shows how fully focused we all are on trying to get into the play-offs."
