Swans for defender with a knee injury

Swansea City will be without defender Dennis Lawrence for three weeks after he twisted his knee in the 2-2 draw with Crewe. The League One leaders had feared a lengthy absence for the Trinidad & Tobago international, although they have now allayed those fears. Swansea physio Richie Evans has revealed the damage is only a mild strain and that he should be back in Roberto Martinez's first team within a month.

Mild strain

"Dennis has a mild strain of the medial ligament in his knee, but it is nothing serious,'' Evans told the club's official website. "He twisted his knee in a challenge and the opposing player landed on top of it. "Fortunately a surgeon friend of mine, who happens to be a Crewe fan, was in the crowd and he checked Dennis out at half-time. He allayed our initial fears. "Now once the swelling goes down we can start working on getting Dennis back as soon as possible. "We'll keep assessing him, but at the moment it only looks as if he'll only be out for two to three weeks."
