Walsall have confirmed they are trying to thrash out a deal with Oldham to retain Michael Ricketts.
Ricketts, who has five goals for The Saddlers this term, is currently nearing the end of his three-month loan.
However, Walsall boss Richard Money is keen to retain the former England international at least until the end of the season.
"Michael's loan is up on January 30," he told the Express and Star. "We're in discussions with Michael and his agent at the minute.
"We're trying to negotiate something at the moment, but as ever with transfers, they're not easy."
