Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has secured the services of Port Vale midfielder Craig Rocastle.
The 26-year-old has joined the Gills on an initial one-month deal and could go straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Huddersfield.
Rocastle will make Gillingham his ninth club since he started his career at non-league Kingstonian in 2002.
Rocastle joined Chelsea in July 2003, and although he never played a senior game for the Blues he gained valuable first-team experience during loan spells with Barnsley, Lincoln and Hibernian.
Rocastle signed for Sheffield Wednesday in February 2005 but failed to secure a regular first-team place.
Further moves to Yeovil, Oldham and Vale have followed and Rocastle will now be hoping to resurrect his career at Priestfield.
