Port Vale have secured the services of Dave Mulligan from Scunthorpe United.
The defender, who had been on loan at Grimsby Town earlier in the season, has signed a contract that will keep him at Vale Park until the end of the current campaign.
And the 25-year-old defender has expressed his joy at joining the League One club.
Mulligan told the club's official website: "I got a call from my agent last night saying Vale were interested in me and I jumped at the chance to come.
"Every time I have been here it has always been a good game and even though the team are struggling at the bottom, hopefully I can come in, maybe with a couple of other players, and start to do well.
"I am good going forward and have scored a couple of free kicks in the past; I can play in a lot of positions, so I hope to make a difference. I can't wait to get my boots on at the weekend; I am really looking forward to it.
"Hopefully I can come here, get a place in the first team and then if I do well enough, earn myself a new contract at the end of the season."
