League One outfit Crewe Alexandra are believed to have opened negotiations with Cheltenham striker Damien Spencer.
Crewe have refused to name their transfer target, but local press reports suggest it is Spencer, who has scored three goals this term.
In a statement on their website, Crewe say they have been granted permission to open negotiations with a possible transfer target.
The statement adds: "Our submitted bid has been accepted for one of our targeted strikers and any possible transfer of the player will be subject to him agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
"First team coach Steve Holland has recently opened the negotiations with the player.
"We can also confirm that our bid for another potential striker is still to be discussed at his club's scheduled board meeting on Friday."
