Fleetwood wanted by League One duo

Crewe Alexandra are chasing two strikers, with one target understood to be Forest Green Rovers' Stuart Fleetwood. The League One club are determined to boost their firepower in January, with head coach Steve Holland confirming bids have been tabled. Non-league ace Fleetwood is thought to have been the subject of a £175,000 offer, with Holland awaiting a response after also holding talks regarding another forward. "Our faxed offer is still very much on the table and we will just have to wait and see if it is accepted or not," Holland told the club's official website.

Hopeful

"Meanwhile, we are continuing our search and have had a conversation with another manager about the possibility of signing another striker. "That is at a more advanced stage and we remain hopeful that something could materialise there if our bid is accepted." Gillingham are also keen on Fleetwood and have made an improved offer, with Priestfield boss Mark Stimson claiming Crewe also want the former Cardiff City youngster. Stimson told Gillingham's official website: "We have made another bid for Stuart Fleetwood and we are just waiting on a phone call from the Forest Green Rovers chairman. "We've put a deal across that we hope might attract them, but we know there are other clubs in the hunt. "I believe Crewe Alexandra entered the race today and have probably doubled the bid we put in."
