Robins striker confident side can beat the drop

Paul Connor believes Cheltenham can save themselves from the League One trap door following Wednesday's crucial win over Port Vale. The Robins' 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Port Vale saw them climb to within five points of Millwall while The Valiants are now further adrift at the foot of the table. Although Wednesday's success was just manager Keith Downing's fourth win in 20 games following John Ward's Carlisle switch, Connor is confident the side can avoid the drop.

Massive

"It was massive for us because Port Vale were down there with us," he told Sky Sports News. "Looking at the table before the game the gap was starting to get a little big with the teams above us so it was important to stay in touch with them. "I think we can stay up. Our home form has been good. "We need to start picking up points away from home. We've just got to go out and work really hard." Connor scored the winner against The Valiants and is hoping the strike can kick-on his season. "It was a relief to score. Goals have been hard to come by this year so hopefully in the New Year I can get some more and help us stay up," he continued. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old has no plans for a hat-trick of moves after swapping clubs twice in the last two January transfer windows. "I'm not looking to move. I'm settled at Cheltenham. It's a really good club."
