Doncaster defender Sam Hird has agreed to stay with Grimsby for a further month on loan.

Doncaster defender Sam Hird has agreed to stay with Grimsby for a further month on loan.

Hird initially dropped a division to link-up with the Mariners in November and it has now been decided he will extend his stay for an additional month.

Grimsby boss Alan Buckley has been impressed with the 20-year-old former Leeds centre-back and has secured his services once again.

A statement on Grimsby's official website read: "Alan Buckley was keen to keep Hird at Blundell Park and the two clubs have settled on an extra 28 days loan.

"Rovers have the option of a 24-hour call-back on the player."
