Crewe Alexandra hope to have defender Danny O'Donnell available for Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest.
O'Donnell has sat out the club's four-match winning streak after suffering a back injury against Cheltenham Town last month.
But he is back in training and is expected to be in the squad for the weekend's League One trip to Forest.
Head coach Steve Holland told the club's official website: "Danny has returned to training and has suffered no reaction to his injury.
"That is good news because he is now available for the weekend game at Forest.
"We have a reduced number of squad players this season, so to have someone like Danny ready to come in if needed, only makes us stronger."
