O'Callaghan and Martot sign on at The Withdean Stadium

Brighton have bolstered their midfield ranks with the acquisitions of George O'Callaghan and David Martot. The duo both penned loan deals at The Withdean Stadium, and will remain with The Seagulls until January. O'Callaghan, 27, signs on from Championship side Ipswich Town, and had been linked with a permanent switch to Brighton. However, the £60,000 deal stalled on personal terms and a loan deal was therefore seen as a suitable resolution. 26-year-old Martot completes his deal from French side Le Havre, and signs on at the club following a successful one-week trial.

'A real asset'

Brighton manager Dean Wilkins is delighted with his captures, but admits that he knew very little of Martot until his trial period at the club. He told the club's official website: "We are looking forward to working with George and we hope that he becomes a real asset. "David is slightly more unknown to us, but we've now had him training with us for a week now and he looks like a player we can utilise in a number of ways in midfield. "He has shown great energy and enthusiasm and will add quality to the squad."
