Shrews staring at the drop

Michael Jackson admits it will be "unbelievably difficult" for Shrewsbury to avoid relegation from after their 5-2 loss at Preston.

Paul Gallagher netted a second-half hat-trick for North End to leave the Shrews six points from safety and needing to win their last two games to have any chance of staying up. "This club is in a bad position at this moment in time, we're right up against it now," said Jackson. "It is not mathematically certain but we have to win our final two games and hope everyone else loses theirs. "I'll never say that it is over. Obviously it is going to be unbelievably difficult but we've got to be better. "It was a young squad and some of them have come up short in experience and in know-how against a really good Preston side. "It's a learning curve for some of them but it is not a good learning curve for the club because their club is in the mire. "I'd say today was a little bit of inevitability with the lads, they can't think that but then again some of them are young."
