Pressley: Unbelievable achivement

Coventry boss Steven Pressley said his team were one step closer to an "unbelievable achievement" after a 0-0 draw at Oldham.

The stalemate ended a three-match losing streak for Pressley's side, lifting them to 50 points and easing their fears of relegation. Oldham created the better chances, with Jonson Clarke-Harris forcing a good save from Sky Blues goalkeeper Joe Murphy and also blasting a 25-yard free-kick against the woodwork. James Dayton missed from close range for the Latics, who were again denied the breakthrough when Charlie MacDonald's shot was scrambled off the goal-line by Cyrus Christie. Coventry's only clear opening came in the last 10 minutes when John Fleck was denied by Oldham goalkeeper Paul Rachubka. But they started this season with a 10-point deduction and Pressley was delighted with his players' commitment. He said: "It's evident that we aren't playing free-flowing football at the moment, but the effort was magnificent. "In terms of togetherness and working hard to get a result, I couldn't have asked for much more. "I need to instill more confidence because there's no doubt that our confidence has been affected over the last couple of months. "Without that you don't perform with the same fluency, but it was a great effort from the players in a game that was pivotal for both sides. "There weren't a lot of chances and it wasn't one for the purists, but both sets of players showed true commitment. "Jordan Clarke was mammoth for us in defence and the players gave everything, so our supporters can be proud. "Everyone got excited when we had a terrific period earlier in the season, but I've said from the start that survival would take some beating. "In our circumstances it would be an unbelievable achievement to stay up and, although there's plenty more work to do, we are getting there."
