Derry: We need more luck

Notts County boss Shaun Derry bemoaned his side's luck following the 2-1 defeat to Bristol City.

Skipper Sam Baldock put City in front on 13 minutes with a close-range shot from Martin Paterson's low cross. It was against the run of play and County deservedly equalised on 29 minutes when no defender picked up Haydn Hollis at a left-wing corner and he directed a downward header past Simon Moore. Hollis went from hero to villain four minutes from time when his poor header back to Bartosz Bialowski was pounced on by Baldock, who won a 50-50 challenge with the goalkeeper before shooting home from 10 yards. Paterson shot over from a Baldock pass early on, but County played the better football for long periods. Jimmy Spencer had a first-half shot blocked and City defender Derrick Williams did well to deflect an Alan Sheehan free-kick over the bar. Moore fumbled a Spencer shot on 58 minutes and recovered in the nick of time to rob Gary Liddle of a goal on the rebound. With wingers Jack Grealish and Jemal Campbell-Ryce always a threat, County only lacked the finish to some incisive attacks. Derry said: "We can't believe we got nothing from the game. Well as we played, I would swap it for a bit of the luck Bristol City enjoyed. "We haven't been playing well away from home and that was one of our best displays of the season. "We have been playing catch up for some times and we are still massively in it as far as the fight to stay up is concerned. It is not over by any means. "We face Crawley on Monday and can only take confidence from this performance. It's the start of a huge week for us, but we will be up for it."
