Waddock: Walsall deserved win

Gary Waddock was disappointed as Wycombe were beaten for the third time in a row, but he admitted Walsall deserved their 2-0 victory.

Two goals by Kevan Hurst and George Bowerman after Alex Nicholls' penalty miss at the Banks's Stadium on Saturday saw the Saddlers leapfrog Wanderers, but both sides remain in the League One relegation zone. Waddock said: "It was a disastrous result but credit to Walsall who took advantage and got the three points and the other results around us didn't go our way. "I thought the penalty save might have turned things our way, but no. It's been very hard for the players and fans this season because nothing has gone our way. "But I'm not making any excuses. It's energy-sapping for the players in the current situation. We lost at home to Yeovil on Tuesday, and we have lost again, so it's a big disappointment. "You have to dust yourself down and and keep working hard and hope it will turn for you. We need a win for confidence and belief. The longer it goes without getting that win the harder it becomes."
