Scunthorpe's assistant manager Chris Brass is hoping the club can strengthen during January, but insists it will be difficult.
The Iron have been severely depleted this season with a host of injuries and goalkeeper Josh Lillis, striker Matt Godden, and midfielders Damien Mozika and Michael Collins all remain sidelined.
Brass told the club's official website: "We've got a couple of potentials but, like with everyone, not a lot has happened yet.
"People are carrying smaller squads so we can't really move and shake.
"There is enough in that dressing room to help this club climb up the league."I think they will be quite happy to get a couple of new additions, though."
