Neither Luton or Shrewsbury could find the breakthrough as they shared the points in a goalless draw at Kenilworth Road.

Luton boss John Still felt his side's point against promotion rivals Shrewsbury could well be an important one at the end of the season.

Luton were held to a goalless draw on a frustrating night at Kenilworth Road, as the visitors were reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes remaining after Nathaniel Knight-Percival was sent off. Still, who saw his side leapfrog Newport County into fourth place, said: "I'm pleased with the performance, I thought we played really well. "We're disappointed with a point but we've had some tough games. We've played Shrewsbury who are going great and we've performed well in all the games. "People might say you haven't won here, but neither have they. Our performance was a typical Luton performance. Everyone's worked their socks off and we've played some good football. "Are we disappointed with a point? It might be a good point." The hosts almost made an excellent start as Jake Howells sent a right footer against the post after Luke Rooney's flick, while on-loan Bournemouth debutant Jayden Stockley fired his half-volley over. Scott Griffiths' volley was beaten away instinctively by Leutwiler, who also turned Andy Drury's curler behind, in what would eventually prove a match-saving display by the Shrewsbury goalkeeper. Shrewsbury's best opportunities saw James Collins fire well off target from distance twice, while Luton also went close when Drury's goal-bound effort was deflected behind for a corner. The visitors were reduced to 10 men on 69 minutes when Knight-Percival was shown two yellows in the space of three minutes for fouls on Hatters midfielder Jonathan Smith. However, in the closing stages, Ellis stabbed just wide of his own goal, Leutwiler kept out a deflection from team-mate Connor Goldson and then repelled Shaun Whalley's low drive as Luton were left frustrated. Shrews boss Micky Mellon was delighted to earn a point as he added: "I've got to be pleased to take four points from Luton. "We defended valiantly for an important point. I thought we dug in, our keeper made some excellent saves and I'm really pleased with the result."
