Gills seek witnesses for McLeod

Gillingham are appealing for any supporters who saw first-hand Izale McLeod's challenge on Garry Richards to come forward.

The centre-back has been ruled out for at least three months with a fractured fibula after Tuesday's 3-1 win over Barnet and, speaking immediately post-match, Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler vowed to review video footage of the challenge by McLeod amid suggestions the Barnet striker may have intentionally injured Richards. The DVD of the incident has proved inconclusive and Gills are keen to find out exactly what happened, although a spokesman at the League Two club has stressed there is no witch-hunt against McLeod. Chairman Paul Scally told the club's official website: "Everyone at the club is naturally very upset by the injury suffered by Garry Richards during the first half. Unfortunately the incident was not picked up by the official match video and none of the rest of the team, the management or match officials had a clear view of what happened. "We would therefore like to hear from any supporters who can say they saw exactly what occurred. We know that feelings among fans were running high afterwards, mainly because of the extent of the injury, but we need to leave that to one side. "Our only interest is in finding out precisely what happened, and anyone who can help us with that is asked to contact our club secretary."
