Hess stressed as Gills slip

Manager Andy Hessenthaler was disappointed after Gillingham's trip to Swindon, where two late goals condemned them to a 2-0 defeat.

Hessenthaler believed the Gills had the better of the chances in Tuesday night's League Two clash at the County Ground, but strikes from Matt Ritchie and Jonathan Smith of Swindon in the final 10 minutes left the visitors with nothing, and the Gillingham boss hugely frustrated. "We were very disappointed and said at half time we had had quite a lot of the football in the first half, but at times we could have done better with it," said Hessenthaler. "I still thought that at times we played very well and created some of the best chances in the game. "There wasn't much in it in the first half and we came out and looked a lot brighter in the second half, we took the game to them, (Luke) Rooney hit the post and if that had gone in all of a sudden they would have been chasing the game. "I can't really be too critical of the boys because it was a good performance but not the right result and there were more positives than negatives."
