Full-back has contract at Peterborough cancelled
Adam Newton has signed a one-year deal with Brentford after his contract with Peterborough United was terminated.
The full-back had spent six years at London Road, but the capture of Russell Martin has prompted his exit.
Newton has quickly secured a new club after becoming Brentford manager Andy Scott's sixth new recruit of the summer.
"Adam is a player that I've been tracking since January," Scott told the club's official website.
Good pedigree
"He has played at the highest level with West Ham and has a good pedigree having also played for England Under 21s.
"He has been consistent throughout his six years at Peterborough, playing over 200 games, and is equally comfortable at either right-back or on the right side of midfield.
"He's athletic and is a very good signing for the club."
