Posh confirm interest

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry admits full-back Adam Newton could be on his way to Brentford. The Bees have made an enquiry about the 27-year-old but Fry expects more teams to enter the race for the right-back. "Brentford made an enquiry for Adam and he is quite keen on the move," Fry told the club's official website. "Unfortunately Brentford can't afford to pay him what he is getting at Peterborough and we as a club are not prepared to give him the money to leave because he has another year on his contract and ended the season in the team. "However, Adam has expressed an interest in leaving and that has left the chairman and the manager thinking that it is best that he goes on the transfer list. "He has been a great servant to us on and off the field, but sometimes in football you reach the crossroads and maybe it is time for us to part. It is up to Adam really."
