Sheridan addresses keeper shortage

Oldham Athletic have signed Luton Town goalkeeper Marlon Beresford on a one-month loan. The former Burnley and Barnsley stopper has slipped down the pecking order at Kenilworth Road and has now joined up with John Sheridan's men in a bid to play some first-team football. The 38-year-old is likely to go straight into the side to face Huddersfield Town on Sunday as Oldham are currently without veteran Mark Crossley (thigh) and Les Pogliacomi (knee). Beresford has made 115 appearances for The Hatters, and helped them win the League One title in 2005/06.

Injury news

Meanwhile, Sheridan has been handed a further boost following defender Stefan Stam's return to training. The Dutchman has been sidelined for three months since suffering a hamstring injury in a reserve team friendly. Stam joined The Latics from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in February 2005, but has struggled to secure a consistent run in the side after a succession of injures.
