Kevin Foley has been placed on stand-by for Republic of Ireland's squad for forthcoming European Championship qualifiers.
The Luton defender has yet to win his first cap but has established himself as a regular with the Under-21 side.
Ireland incumbent Steve Staunton has been monitoring Foley's progress closely since the start of the season and has now rewarded him with a stand-by place.
Having been impressed with the youngster's displays in The Championship, Foley will be brought in if any of Ireland's squad are struck by injury.
Ireland continue their European Championship qualifying campaign next month with games against Cyprus and Czech Republic.
