Bristol City have rebuffed in their attempts to sign striker Steve Howard from League One rivals Luton Town.

The 28-year-old was interesting Robins player-manager Brian Tinnion, as he looked for a new target man to replace the departed Lee Peacock.

However, The Hatters have strongly warned the West Country club that Howard is not for sale, with Tinnion now setting his sights for a new front man elsewhere.

"We were told Steve is not for sale, so that is the end of the matter," Tinnion told the club's official website.

"I do have a couple of other names in mind, which I will be discussing with the chairman, and I still hope to bring someone in before the start of the season."
