LUTON TOWN have been dealt a blow by the news that striker Dean Crowe is out for the remainder of the season with a broken leg.

The 23-year-old had an X-ray on the injury and tests confirmed that the former Stoke City and Bury man sustained a fracture in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat at Mansfield Town.

The Hatters were unsure of Crowe's problem until the X-ray but the results come as a blow to manager Joe Kinnear, with fellow striker Steve Howard sidelined with a knee problem.

"We didn't know about Dean's break until he had it X-rayed, but we've lost him for the season and it's a big blow to us," Kinnear told Luton's official website.

"Now we've lost Steve as well, so we've only got one striker at the club."
