Brown delight for Eastwood

Image: Phil Brown: Happy to see Eastwood score again

Phil Brown was pleased to see Freddy Eastwood scored as Southend moved into the play-off spots after 1-0 win over Torquay.

Eastwood came off the bench to net his first goal since October in the 72nd minute at Roots Hall. And manager Brown was thrilled to see the striker score. "I'm just delighted for Freddy because he's been through a lot this season and it's been hard for him lately," he said. "He started the season very well indeed with four goals in four games but then a knee operation set him back a little bit. "It took him longer than we expected for him to get over that, but he's been more involved in the last few weeks and you would always back him to pop up in the right area when the ball goes across the box. "He proved that again and I think I must have given him the biggest hug of his life at the end of the game. "We didn't play particularly well if we're being honest and it was more of a bronze display than a gold, but we got the three points and we seem to be gathering a bit of momentum again at an important time."
