Southend will begin their 2013/14 League Two campaign with a home game against Plymouth.
The Shrimpers, who missed out on the play-offs last season, then make the long trip to Hartlepool before hosting play-off finalists Northampton on August 17.
They welcome Dagenham to Roots Hall on October 22 with the return journey on January 28.
Christmas is spent on the road with trips to AFC Wimbledon on Boxing Day and Accrington on December 29 while 2014 is brought in with a bumper New Year's Day clash at home to Portsmouth on January 1.
Easter Saturday sees Accrington visit and they then visit Fleetwood 48 hours later.
United's campaign ends at home to Burton on May 3.
