Millwall utility man Tamika Mkandawire has extended his loan at Southend for another month until 1 January.
The versatile defender, who can also operate in midfield, has featured in the in-form Shrimpers' last four games, helping United pick up three wins and a draw, including an emphatic 4-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.
The Lions are hoping Mkandawire's spell at Roots Hall will help the 29-year-old return to full match fitness having not appeared for the Lions since November 2011 when he picked up a serious knee injury.
