Corr injury halts comeback

Southend striker Barry Corr's return from injury has suffered a fresh setback ahead of the new season.

The 27-year-old had been working his way back from a knee injury that ruled him out of the whole of last season. However, Corr is now likely to miss the Shrimpers' pre-season trip to Spain after picking up a groin strain in training. The Irishman recently agreed a new one-year deal with the club and could still return in time for the new campaign. "It's a shame because he had been flying in training," manager Paul Sturrock told the club's official website. "But it certainly isn't the end of the world if he doesn't make the tour and we still feel he could be fit for the start of the season."
