Coventry City have suspended Gary Deegan for two weeks while they investigate alleged comments made by the midfielder on Twitter.
The 24-year-old Irishman, signed from Bohemians in January 2010, is reported to have made controversial comments on the social networking site.
The Sky Blues are now looking into the matter and have informed Deegan that he is to stay away from the club's training ground until further notice.
A statement released on the club's
official website read: "Coventry City confirm that Gary Deegan has been suspended from training for a period of two weeks while further investigations take place into comments on Twitter social networking site.
"Neither the player nor the club will be making any further statement whilst internal investigations are ongoing."
Meanwhile, the League One outfit have announced that former defender Richard Shaw has been appointed as the club's new assistant to manager Andy Thorn.

Shaw chalked up over 300 first-team appearances in more than 10 years with the Sky Blues from 1995 to 2006 after joining from Crystal Palace.
He also played alongside Thorn during their time at Palace and the City boss is delighted to have a familiar face on board.
"This is a great appointment for the club," said Thorn.
"Richard is Coventry City through and through and was granted a testimonial during his time here as a player.
"But it's not an appointment that's all about sentiment. Richard knows the game inside out and wants to come to help us move the club forward and he will be a big part of that.
"I obviously know him from my time at Crystal Palace and I trust him implicitly, which is vitally important, so I am just delighted to have him here at Coventry City again."
