Stevenage have won the race to land Southend United midfielder Anthony Grant, according to reports.

The 25-year-old had a number of options open to him, but after talks with Stevenage boss Gary Smith he has opted to move to Broadhall Way. Southend had been hopeful of keeping Grant but once they failed to seal promotion via the play-offs it always seemed likely the former Chelsea man would depart, with his current deal at Roots Hall set to expire. Now Stevenage have agreed terms with Grant on a two-year deal and he will join them on a free transfer. Grant has been with Southend since 2008 and has made nearly 150 appearances for the club.
