Westley: We have work to do

New Preston boss Graham Westley admits he faces a mammoth task after a 2-0 defeat to Leyton Orient in his first game in charge.

Marc Laird and Jimmy Smith's second-half strikes made it an afternoon to forget for the former Stevenage boss, who admitted his concern about the job he has inherited. "I think fitness levels in the side are down," said Westley. "They are 75% of what I left behind at Stevenage and when you play without fitness your opportunities are limited. "I thought for 20 minutes after half-time we showed some of the qualities we have and we built some momentum but we couldn't sustain it. "Leyton Orient are in form and a tough outfit to play against but at times defensively I was pulling my hair out. "In small areas there were improvements that I liked but there is clearly a lot of work to do."
