Michael Timlin hopes Southend's draw with Morecambe can inspire a victorious run to take them back to the League Two summit.
The Shrimpers slipped to second following the weekend stalemate but Timlin is not concerned with their league position as long as they keep pace with the leaders.
The midfielder told the Echo: "We're massively disappointed with the result but maybe it's what we needed to kick-start us again.
"The last kick in the teeth we had was losing at Swindon and we reacted to that with six wins in a row so maybe this will get us back on form again.
"It makes no odds if we're first or second.
"The important thing is we're still in touch with the teams at the top and at least we've kept our unbeaten run going."
