Southend manager Paul Sturrock was frustrated to see his side throw away a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw with Northampton.
Bilel Mohsni and Ryan Hall had put the hosts in charge but Adebayo Akinfenwa and Arron Davies hit back for the Cobblers.
Sturrock said: "I'm bitterly disappointed that we have not won the game having been 2-0 up.
"We lost concentration for the first goal and my players have not done the jobs they were asked to do.
"The first goal changed the momentum of the game and then we conceded a stupid second goal before creating chances we should have done better with.
"It's definitely a case of two points dropped but it's important to remember that we have not lost the game. It was a healthy performance but clean sheets win games."
