Blair Sturrock made a scoring return for Southend on Wednesday as the club's reserves drew 1-1 with Concord Rangers.
The striker, who found the net six times last term, has not featured in pre-season or any of United's opening four matches of this season's campaign due to an ankle injury sustained in May.
But Sturrock enjoyed a successful 90 minutes against Southend's Ryman League Premier Division opponents, netting an equaliser seven minutes from time while also hitting a post twice.
