Skysports.com understands Craig Easton is set to leave Southend after turning down a new deal at Roots Hall.
The Scottish midfielder joined the club only last summer after leaving Swindon and was named captain at Southend.
Easton's one-year deal expires later this summer and the club were keen to secure him on a new contract.
However, the former Dundee United man has rejected the offer and is now ready to move on for a new challenge.
A number of League One and League Two sides are believed to be chasing the 32-year-old and Easton's agent, Clive Hart, has confirmed he is talking to interested clubs.
"Craig has turned down the offer of a new deal at Southend and will leave the club," Hart told skysports.com.
"Craig is a free agent and I am talking to a number of clubs about a possible deal for him."
