Southend defender Luke Prosser has signed a new one-year contract extension with the League Two club.
The 22-year-old, who spent seven weeks on loan at Rushden and Diamonds at the start of the year, featured 21 times for the Shrimpers this season.
Manager Paul Sturrock indicated that Prosser's form towards the end of the season was deserving of a new deal.
He said: "Luke has shown in the last seven matches that he can do a job in League Two for us.
"He came into the side and coped at left-back very well in my opinion."
The deal includes a clause allowing the club to extend the deal by a further year should they wish to.
