Striker leaves Southend in loan deal

Skysports.com understands Stockport have signed Matt Paterson from League Two rivals Southend. Hatters boss Peter Ward has moved to bring in Paterson on loan after seeing Ishmel Demontagnac and Stephen Husband return to Blackpool following the completition of their loan stints. Paterson has made 15 appearances for Southend this season, but he is currently down the pecking order in Paul Sturrock's plans. The 21-year-old, who has scored four goals this season, is believed to have rejected an offer from Stevenage to make the move to Edgeley Park. The former Southampton youngster is set to go straight into the Stockport squad for this weekend's clash with Bury.
