Easton out for four weeks

Southend captain Craig Easton has spoken of his disappointment at picking up a calf injury against Northampton.

The midfielder picked up the injury with less than five minutes remaining and is likely to be out for some time, forcing boss Paul Sturrock to draft in Swindon Town's Michael Timlin as cover on a month-long loan. Easton told the clubs official website: "Fortunately I have only strained it. "The medical staff are saying that I should be out for around three to four weeks which is a blow as we were starting to find some sort of a settled side. Easton also spoke about his replacement and close friend Timlin saying: "Michael is a good pal of mine and I've told him he is just keeping my spot in the team warm. "Seriously though, he will come in and do a good job for us so I'm pleased to see him here."
