Winger agrees two-year deal

Dagenham & Redbridge have completed the signing of winger Damian Scannell after he rejected a new contract at Southend. Skysports.com revealed at the weekend that the League One newcomers were closing in on a deal. The 25-year-old admitted last week that he would be seeking a new challenge and has now agreed a two-year deal with the Daggers. Dagenham boss John Still told the club's official website: "I'm really looking forward to working with Damian, he is an exciting prospect and has played at this level before. "He is powerful, quick and a strong wide player who can also play in the middle. He is desperate to do well and hopefully we can help him fulfil his potential." Scannell, who joined Southend from Eastleigh in January 2008, suffered a broken metatarsal in March and missed the last six weeks of the season.
