Derby close on Lions midfielder

Skysports.com understands Derby County are poised to sign David Martin from Millwall. The 24-year-old has been a first-team regular for the Lions since joining the club in 2008, but could be tempted by the prospect of Championship football at Pride Park. The highly-rated midfielder was playing non-league football as recently as 2007, before being brought into the professional ranks by Crystal Palace. He struggled to make an impact during a 12-month spell with the Eagles, but has blossomed at the Den. Derby boss Nigel Clough feels he would bring added quality to his options in the middle of the park and is believed to be closing in on a deal. Meanwhile, the Rams have allowed Aleksander Prijovic to join Swiss side FC Sion after deeming the youngster to be surplus to requirements. The 19-year-old forward failed to make a single competitive appearance for Derby during his 18 months at the club.
