Torquay boss Paul Buckle is monitoring trialist Blair Sturrock's performances as he mulls over offering the free agent a contract.

The 27-year-old, who is the eldest son of Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock, played in the Gulls' creditable 0-0 draw with Championship outfit Derby at Plainmoor on Thursday.

Sturrock spent a spell on loan at Torquay last season, scoring 2 goals in 7 outings, and the striker is now on trial after being released by former club Swindon.

Despite his impressive performances in the Gulls' successful promotion campaign, Buckle is opting for another look at the Scotsman after injury cut short his spell last term.
