Southend United have brought in Salisbury City winger Liam Feeney on loan until January.

Feeney had been on the brink of a loan switch to Dagenham & Redbridge after agreeing personal terms with the League Two club this week.

However, Dagenham failed to settle on a deal with Salisbury and the 21-year-old has now accepted a move to Roots Hall.

He is ineligible for Saturday's FA Cup second-round tie with Luton Town, but Southend boss Steve Tilson is looking forward to seeing the youngster in action.

"Liam can play on the left or the right and this is a good chance for us to have a look at him before the transfer window reopens," Tilson told the club's official website.

"His pace is his main asset, but he's a stocky lad and has great strength too."

Meanwhile, Damian Scannell has joined Southend's lengthening injury list after suffering a dead leg.
