Southend United have taken former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Richard Langley on trial.

Midfielder to play for reserves on Tuesday

Southend United have taken former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Richard Langley on trial. Langley is currently available on a free transfer after leaving Luton Town over the summer following two seasons at Kenilworth Road. He trained with Cheltenham Town and Hereford United during pre-season, and has now pitched up at Southend. The 28-year-old will play for the reserves against Northampton on Tuesday and Southend boss Steve Tilson is happy to give Langley an opportunity to impress. "Richard is available on a free and we will take a look at him in today's reserve game," Tilson told the club's official website. "We need another midfielder and he comes with experience, so this is an opportunity for us to run the rule over him."
