Striker keen to play at higher level

Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond has confirmed striker Jo Kuffour has handed in a transfer request. Kuffour joined the Cherries on a two-year deal last summer from Brentford, but is keen to leave following the club's relegation to League Two and 17-point deduction. Bristol Rovers tried to sign Kuffour during pre-season, while Southend United have been linked with a bid for the forward. Bond is aware of the player's desire to move on before the close of the transfer window and he will not stand in the 26-year-old's way, if the right offer is received.

Desire

"I have known all along of Jo's desire to play as high as he can, but desire was all it had been until now," Bond told the Daily Echo. "Things have changed somewhat because the transfer window is closing in less than a fortnight and he probably wants to see if there is anybody out there who would be interested in taking him. "He has told me that he definitely wants to consider getting somewhere else if he can and, as I've stated on many occasions, I would never want to keep a player against their wishes. "Having said that though, it would need to be right for us as well, so we would have to think about how much somebody might offer for him and also about replacing him."
